Hunting Hyena (Chasmaporthetes Ossifragus), also known as the running hyena, is a species of hyena native throughout Eurasia, Africa, and even North America, making it the only native American hyena species.
The hunting hyena's limbs are long and slender like those of cheetahs, and its cheek teeth are slender and sharp-edged like those of a cat. The hunting hyena is found throughout the open grounds and is a daytime hunter. Unlike most other hyenas, the hunting hyena is hypercarnivorous rather than durophagous, in a fashion similar to African wild dogs and gray wolves.
